With the acquisition by Globe Manufacturing Limited of the downstream processing mill in Madang, copra suppliers have been assured it is business as usual and they can look forward to more better and improved services.
The assurance was given by Globe’s senior executive managers in an interview with reporters in Madang this week. The mill, formerly operated by Coconut Oil Production Madang (COPM) Limited, was sold by its New Zealand owner Craig Turner who is also the owner of Sleepyhead Group, the largest mattress maker in the Southern Hemisphere, to Globe a subsidiary of the WR Carpenters (PNG) Group of Companies.
Mill Manager Graham Proud said the mill had started operations under Globe this week and one of the first things that the company had done was raise the gate prices which he said was K1, 050 per tonne for Hot Air, K1, 000/tonne for FMS and K950/tonne for smoke. The prices were effective as of Monday this week. Read more here
