Innovative successes through the value chain

Innovation from the farm to the point of sale is just as crucial for the competitiveness of smallholder farmers and improving food security as increasing agricultural production.

This was the view presented by David Shearer, Director, Corporate Program, with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) at the Crawford Fund 2011 international conference titled “The Supermarket Revolution: Good, Bad or Ugly for the World’s Farmers, Consumers and Retailers?” held in Parliament House, Canberra, from August 14 to 16.
